STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF AMERICAN NOMINEES

DONALD TRUMP:

Strengths:

One of his major strendths that we have seen in numerous conversations between reporters and Trump is that he is able to lead a direct question into the direction he wants to. Also he knows how to talk to the anger voters without being shy and not fearing of what he says. He says what voters want to listen to even if it has risks. Another of his strengths is that he has a good business expirence and he is able to self finance his campaign.

Weaknesses:

Repeatedly he has made some extremists statements about immigrants, women and Muslims, he has been seen as egocentric and publicity hound and also he would not be taken seriously by some. Another weakness is that people is affraid of what he would do if he was in the White House because he is so impredictable. A very important weakness of his candidacy is his weak knowledge of the political terms. In some of the debates against Clinton this was a problem because he is a smart and experienced woman.

HILLARY CLINTON:

Strengths:

One of the most important strengths of Hillary Clinton is that he is a political fighter, she doesn't give up easily and she is able to defend herself against political opponents. The fact that she would be the first female president could be positive for her because it makes her candidacy truly historic because the fact that people voted a women could be a step foward for a nation where women weren't allow to vote until 1920 and where sexism remains in. The most important strength is that she has political expirence, she has been a Secretary of the State, a U.S. Senator, First Lady of the United States and First Lady of Arkansas.

Weaknesses:

One of the bi problems of her candidacy is that people don't know if they can trust her because of the way she handle her email as a secretary of the state using a private server outside the official system. Also it seems like she has been hiding information instead of taking risks and being more open.

 MY OPINION:

In my opinion Hillary Clinton would be a better president of the United States than Donald Trump. First of all because she has much more political epirence than him and she has been related with the White House. Also because she is a woman and this could be positive for a country to have a female president where gender inequality remains part of the culture of the country. And also because she hasn't been related with extremists statements as Donald Trump.

LAZARUS

Look up here, I'm in heaven
I've got scars that can't be seen
I've got drama, can't be stolen
Everybody knows me now
Look up here, man, I'm in danger
I've got nothing left to lose
I'm so high it makes my brain whirl
Dropped my cell phone down below
Ain't that just like me?
By the time I got to New York
I was living like a king
There I'd used up all my money
I was looking for your ass
This way or no way
You know, I'll be free
Just like that bluebird
Now, ain't that just like me?
Oh, I'll be free
Just like that bluebird
Oh, I'll be free
Ain't that just like me?

MY OPINION:

In my opinion, this song could be considered as a rite of passage because when David Bowie wrote it he knew he was gonna die because of a cancer. In this song he talks like he is already dead. For exemple when he says "Look up here I'm in heaven" and when he says "I've got scars that can't be seen" he is refearing to his cancer. Also, he died 3 days after the music video was released so it can be considered as a goodbye to his fans, as a rite of passage to death.

When we saw the video of elders reacting to David Bowie's video we saw that they all got sad when they saw it was David Bowie and some of them also cried because they knew he was saying goodbye and because it was sad to know that he died days after.

WHY IS DEATH A TABOO?

In our culture death is a taboo because we are too affraid of it and we are scared of talking about it. The reason why we are affraid of death is because we don't know what happens when we die and we don't know where do we go and humans are so affraid of unknowledge. This is why religious people imagine a pleace where we go when we die, heaven or hell, so that we are not that affraid of death because we can imagine what happens after life. But we don't actually know if it's true or if it's not.

PROTEST SONG

The song that I have chosen is Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution written by Tracy Chapman in 1988.

Tracy Chapman -Talkin' Bout A Revolution (1988)

Don't you know
They're talkin' 'bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Don't you know
They're talkin' 'bout a revolution

It sounds like a whisper
While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

Dont' you know
They're talkin' 'bout a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs

Don't you know
You better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run ,run
Oh I said you better
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run

'Cause finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' 'bout a revolution
Yes, finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin' 'bout a revolution, oh no
Talkin' 'bout a revolution, oh

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

On this song, Tracy Chapman criticize the economical system of the United States and a lot of other countries and encourages people to make a revolution against the corrupt governments. She says that people is already talking about the revolution while they are waiting for a job on the unemployment lines.
In her opinion people is wasting time on these unemployment lines and waiting for a promotion and she wants them to act and change this system because it is the only solution to end with this situation.
She also sends a message to the capitalist class telling them that they better run because poor people are gonna rise up and the tables are gonna turn.

In my opinion, this song is clearly a protest song and Tracy Chapman defends the revolution against the economical system because it is the way to change the bad situation the poor people is living with corruption and unemployment.

But after some time he can move and his captors pull the pendulum up. When he is asking for help the walls start to get closer and pull him into the pit. THE GOTHIC NOVEL (G.N.)

Who invented the G.N.?

The gothic novel was invented by Horace Walpole, a famous british writter.

What was the first G.N.?

The Castle of Otranto was the first Gothic Novel.

When was it first published?

It was published in 1764.

Which basic elements of horror didn't you include on your list?

The horror elements I didn't include on the list of my last post The scariest movie for me are:

  • Wind and rain
  • Doors grating on rusty hinges
  • Lights in abandoned rooms
  • Crazed laughter
  • Clanking chains
  • Thunder and lightning
  • Gusts of wind blowing out lights

THE SCARIEST MOVIE FOR ME

I don't really enjoy watching scary movies so I haven't seen a lot of them. But I remember one that I saw in TV that I liked. It's The house at the end of the street.

The house at the end of the street is about a recently divorced mother, Sarah, and her daughter Elissa who are hoping for a new beginning in a small rural town where they find the house of their dreams. But then unexplainable events begin to happen when Sarah and Elissa learn that the town has a secret, the legend of Carrie Anne. Years earlier, in the house next door, a girl killed her parents in their beds, and then she disappeared but the body was never found. Ryan, the brother, was the only survivor and now he comes back to his parents house. Against Sarah's wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with Ryan and the closer they get, the deeper they are pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

The best part of the movie is the end because it's when you finally discover what was really going on in the town but I can't explain it because if you see the movie it wouldn't be fun, so another of the best moments is when Ryan invites Sarah to get into the house because then he explains to her that what actually happened is that Carrie Anne one day fell down of the swing and after that she was complitly different. It was the first time he talked about it.

Horror elements of the movie:

  • Closed rooms
  • Dark forest
  • Mental disorders
  • Abduction
  • Death

MY INTELLIGENCE

Acording to the test we took of Multiple Intelligences I am very good at logical and musical. I agree because my strong point are maths and I really enjoy playing or listening to music. It said that I am good at naturalistic too, which I totally agree because I love the outdoors and the animals. About the results of intrapersonal it's true because I am pretty independent and I find it easy to learn and think by my own. I agree with the results of kinaesthetic but about the visual/artistics intelligence I think it's a bit too much because drawing or paiting are not my favourite hobbies but actually I am very observant and I have a good sense of direction. Acording to the test my weak points are intrapersonal which I quite agree and linguistic intelligence which I don't agree because I really enjoy reading and I love lenguages but the thing is that I don't like talking in front of so many people.

This is the grafic of my results:

THE ANIMAL IN ME

  • In the English class we took a test to know what animal is inside us. When I answered all the questions it said:

  • You are a Beaver!

  • The beavers are the workaholics of the animal world. No animal personality places more emphasis, nor derives more self-esteem than beavers do from thair carrer. I agree that I am self-esteem to what I do and I am a hard-working person but maybe being a workaholics doesn't define me very well. The test also said that I am reliable, ethical and judgemental. I agree with reliable because I am a very dependable person and responsable. I agree with ethical too, because I think I am honest and loyal. I don't agree with judgemental because before judging a person I prefer to know more about them than just how do they look like.

  • The test has guessed that my careers would be:

  • Engineer, naval officer, manager or a judge. I like the idea of being a engineer but I don't think I am gonna study to become a judge, manager or naval officer.

  • And it also guessed that my hobbies would be:

  • Gardening, woodworking, collecting or sewing. But I don't like anyone of these.

    MY HEROES

    My heroes are my parents.

My father is Valentí and he is 49 years old. When he was little he wanted to be an engineer and he was very smart but he couldn't study university because at those times my family had no money to pay it so he worked as a farmer and with my grandfather's business of constructions. He is very hard-working, clever and a very happy person.

My mother is Silvia and she is 46 years old. She is from Fortià and she works as a secretary. She loves children and when I was little she always took care of me and helped me with my homework. She loves cooking for us and at her free time she does cross stitch. She is a very responsable person but she is also very funny.

They are my heroes because they are the ones i look up to and I want to learn from. I love them and when I grew up I want to be as smart, happy, and lovely as them.

    MY BIGGEST DREAM

I have so many dreams like travel all around the world, learn to surf, live in New York for a while... But my biggest dreams is to become a vet since I was little. I can't imagine my future unrelated to animals.
There are a couple of reasons why being a vet is something that I really want to do: my love for animals, my interest in medicine, and my love for helping because I think that veterinarians help not only animals, they also help humans.

To realize that dream I will have to study a lot and for a long time. I will have to work hard and go to the university, and also get money to pay it. But studying will be ok if I like it and about going to the university, I will have to end high school first, and earn money to pay it.

Becoming a vet will be hard sometimes. I will have to be ambitious, motivated, and quick learner. But I can do it even if it's difficult because it's my dream and I really want to.

I have the feeling that I would be one of the people in this world who loves their job.
